I bought a cosmic black Hagstrom Ultralux XL-2 from Maury at Strings and Things on ebay, 250 buy it now free ship. Chinese made but those Swedes must be over there doing good quality control!!
Absolute smoking deal on what is now one of my favorite axes. Two great sounding humbuckers with coil splitter, super nice trem that has a full contact line that gives it great sustain and not the hassle of a Floyd, with great tuning stability by 18-1 Imperials and graphite nut. Flame maple top on basswood and maple H expander truss rod super thin neck with a heel to die for set in. The fretboard is hard phrenolic with mop/abalone inlays and binding on headstock and logo are mop. Looks great, plays great.
I did a search and no one has posted on these incredible guitars. Compared to most of the "deals", the Haggies are the best. I've also got a natural Hagstrom Viking II ES335 type that belittles the EPI and Gibson ones in my opinion.
The Ultralux belittles the RGs, LTDs, and other speed metal machines. They don't have as fast, as stable and long lasting neck/fretboard combo, and most have the Floyd hassle. Low E at the 24th fret is an easy reach. Unreal.
Up the Irons!

the one that's interesting is the one with P90's in it. . . .certainly unique enough that it got my attention. the other two are "boring" in comparison though . . standard superstrat stuff (not that this is a bad thing, I own two RG's). it's good to see something that's legitimately different

I didn't see any of the P-90 ones for low buck sale, and only one XL-5 for 285, briefly. I've had several RGs, and the XL-2 with coil splitter, super neck and trem wastes 'em. For the RG types to come close you have to have the Steve Vai model for buku bucks.

have you tried the RG321MH? has to be the best deal ibanez has going (if you want a hardtail). when I bought mine it was around 350 bucks IIRC. . .and has been the best guitar I've owned period. although if you've owned some RG's before and simply disagree then that's cool, I'm very opinionated and can understand if someone feels strongly with their choices

There are some very good deals on Hagstroms right now at Amazon. The white Swede is a great deal at $337 shipped. Lots of other deals to be had. I have a Ultra Swede on the way.
