To quote George Takei: "Oh, my." Blink

http://www.epiphone.com/Products/Bass/Zenith.aspx

Very first thought: "Epiphone is finally beginning to step ahead of Gibson. This design looks (per their hype) like an instrument that spans 80 years, an excellent blend of acoustic & electric. Extra points for putting tapewounds on the showpiece."

The fretted transparent-black version is plenty spiffy, but the antique-natural fretless is a jaw-dropper.

Five-layer bolt-on neck. Not one but TWO Shadow NanoMAG pickups -- like a FRAP with 21st century technology -- with bass & treble for each, & stereo output. MSRP $1,335, commonly ~$750 new, $600 used.

Apparently released at NAMM 2011.

Apparently now discontinued.

I saw a full page ad for this in Guitarist UK mag, last year! Even I was taken by it, and thought it was something special!

Very pretty. And intriguing. Don't have any experience with those pickups. Good to see Epi getting out from under Gibson's shadow a bit.
