Here's a Cool Looking Retro Bass.
I really like the Looks of this bass, and would like it better if it had the modern Split P- P/U.
I wonder how hard it would be to convert the P/U Route to the more Modern P Humbucking Pickup?

Like a Squire 51 bass... Sweet! Routing for a different pup shouldn't be too big a deal.. Templates are fairly cheap from Stewmac.

This generally looks like the 50's style Tele-basses that Fender is making now. I have a Squier CV 50's precision that looks a lot like this, and is my current go-to passive bass. I think the single-coil pickup is part of the visual charm, and mine sounds just fine. Finding an upgrade pickup in this config might be an issue....

Those Pickups can be made very easily.
2 Pieces of Forbon, and 4 Magnets, and Wire!

This guy makes some interesting upgrades for the Tele bass style:

I like the looks of humbucker, but the two-magnet is attractive.

Of course, YOU could probably do your own...BigGrin

I've made some of those.
I have rewound several of the regular split P-Bass, and J-Bass Pickups.
The tricky part if you rewind fender bass pickup back like you take them apart.
One Coil is wound Clockwise, and the Other CounterClockWise.
One has magnet poles south up and the other is North up, so it gets tricky.
Thus RWRP.
I have been wanting to buy a bass just haven't got there yet.
Later,
