Well I finally used it last night at rehearsal. I amplified it through the effect loop return of my Tryanor YCV50 Blue. It sounded pretty good. I only have 3 patches built with various effects for each patch. The Twin, a JTM45 and a VOX AC30. I was very happy with it. So much so that I might even use it this weekend at a wedding reception.

Great to hear you getting some tone-happiness out of it. I've got to admit, for as much of a fan of actual amps that I am, the HD500 potentially serves many purposes for me. And with a powered PA speaker already in the fold (it's my bass "amp") the HD could give me access to tones I simply can't achieve with my current "real" rig. Record some stuff if you can - would love to hear the JTM and AC30 tones!

The JTM-45 in the HD500 is my go to dirty amp. I additionally boost it with the boost comp with the bass cut and treble set high kinda faking a treble booster. Depending on the cab when running direct I'll need to tame down the low end significantly but it just sounds extremely smooth. I'm pretty sure I was using that model in this vid. Of course it was recorded on a cell phone so there's no low end on the recording, but you kinda get the drift.

Cool Wow! I love my pedals dearly, especially my OCD and my JoeMeek FloorQ, but hot damn that's some tasty tones in that video. All through the loop of the trusty TM60, I assume? Interesting that it's mic'd as opposed to right into the PA.

Well thanks! Yes, cabs defeated on the HD500 and fed to the TM60 return. The PA in that place was notorious for failing and I don't think I had an FRFR at the time. You know despite having the HD500 (and a couple other MFX), I still GAS over pedals!

@jgauker - Glad you're getting some use out of yours!Did you update it to 1.31? If not...boy are you in for a very pleasant surprise! New channels of many of the amps were added including a killer Twin (the vib channel). Keep us posted on your experiences.

Yes, firmware is upgraded and I've even adjusted the sag on the amp settings. I took my time in getting these patches to sound like I want. I'm going to refine them even more this week and add a few other patches. Like a Bassman and JCM 800.

HD500 update! I used it at the wedding reception this past weekend. I wish I could report how great it sounded but I didn't get to hear it! My "not frugal at all" in-ear-monitor ear buds died on me! Sometimes you don't get what you pay for. I'm waiting to start trashing the brand name to see how they take care of the issue.

Back to the HD500, my wife and everyone else thought it sounded great but I could barely hear anything. Do to stage arrangement I was directly in front of our horn section and that is pretty much what I could hear from the mains. Imagine playing a whole set without hearing your guitar at all. I was hoping I was in tune and at the right spot.

I will probably order a powered speaker to use aas a monitor this week so this doesn't happen in the future.

I did take my amp and pedalboard as a backup and used my SCXD as a monitor for the amp for the second set but it sounded bad because I had the HD500 set to connect directly to the PA and it didnt sound great through the amp but at least I could hear my guitar the rest of the reception.

I did order a backup set of earbuds for future use. As a prime member of Amazon I'll get them Tuesday. Hopefully the manufacturer of my very expensive ear buds will repair them under warranty. They are only 14 months old and have sounded great during that time.

So, I'm hoping that the benefit we are playing this coming weekend I will be able to hear my HD500.

I primarily used the Twin amp but for a few songs I went to the JTM45 and a couple others I used the Vox AC30 patch I have set up.

All this great discussion about modelers has me scouring Ebay for a used POD X3 bean to use as my "amps" and fronting it with my beloved pedals... convenience and (nearly) weightless gigging seems to be gaining much momentum with me as of late. I love my little Vox Pathfinder but that 1x8 speaker has its limitations.

I used it again at practice last night and worked mostly with the JTM45 patch. I really like the way it sounds clean. That amp model seems to take the overdirve and distortion pedals better. This is definitely the amp model for the rock tones.

I think going forward as I get more familiar with the HD500, I'm going to really learn to like it. It sounds pretty darn good through the loop return on my Traynor YCV50 Blue.
