This is a great site. I've visited many times in the past. For those who've never visited worth the visit...that is if you've ever considered building a tube guitar amp. You can get kits for the amps here: http://shop.dobermanamps.com/

Excellent!! I was poking around AX84, but I didn't spot a clear link to sourcing.

Looks like the biggest use for me is just the info. I like to learn stuff, but with the Defender 5H (12AX7/EL84) commonly selling for $100, paying $259 for components (+$65 for a ready-to-go chassis) is a bit of a leap. AX84.com has already given me a better grasp of the underlying design of the Kustom head, & started me thinking about mods & tweaks that are more within my reach. It doesn't even look like modding to an octal socket (6L6/EL34) would be horribly difficult.

One circuit option they present is to use a 6N1P dual triode to reduce output to about one watt, or even to cut out half the elements to reduce output further. I like the idea of offering this as a "family friendly" value-added option, & maybe making it switchable. Does anyone know if the EL84 can be reduced so easily?
