I am looking for a lefty LP type guitar and have been looking at Agile. I have never personally seen one so I was curios if they are any good. I have looked at Epi's and found the quality to be lacking and was curious as to what people think of the Agile.

I have the one in my Avatar.
I bought it in 08.
I have 5 Electric Left hand guitars and I play my Agile AL2000 the most.
I upgraded all the electronics, and rewired it.
It is heavy 10 lbs 3 oz.
It Sustains for Days. Lol
I like it, and It's the only one of the 5 that is absolutely not for sale.
Good Luck,
B_T

I completely agree with Terry. You can buy with confidence from Rondo. I have 3 Agile guitars and they are my gigging guitars. One of my three is an Agile AL2500. I bought mine as a "B stock" for cosmetic flaws. It does have a couple cosmetic flaws but it has been an amazing guitar. I also upgraded the pickups but left the other components in place.

You can read my AL-3000 review here. Mighty fine guitars. The only thing I didn't like about it was the weight. They very easily compare in quality and out spec the PRS SE guitars which cost around a couple hundred more and on some other forums famous for high dollar gear some have compared them directly to Gibsons and preferred Agiles, that is when Gibson offers a similarly speced guitar which is often not the case (ex Agile's with neck through construction, tummy carves, and real MOP inlays, Gibson doesn't offer a similar guitar). Of course, take all this with a grain of salt as every one's tastes vary. But Rondo offers a pretty generous return policy so if you don't like it your only out the cost of shipping.

From WHAT I've seen of Agiles, They are far superior to most Epiphone versions of Gibson designs!

Thanks for the info, you wold know that I finally decided to pull the plug on a new axe but they don't have the one I want in stock. I'll have to wait for it to be offered again.

I have an Agile Dauntless, and have played the AL 2000. I've posted a comparison against my Gibson (see http://forum.frugalguita...2_B-Stock-Agile-LP.aspx - most of the way to the bottom of page 2).

Generally speaking the Dauntless is my favorite guitar of this sort. I remember the pickups on the AL-2000 to be the only real issue that separated it from the Dauntless in my mind. Better than average OEM ceramic humbuckers - but nothing special. Candidates for replacement if you are really looking to create something great. I don't think you will have any regrets with the Agiles.

But the Xaviere humbucker-equipped offerings are worth a look also. I have the XV-500 with the Crunchy Pats, and I think the guitar is *almost* as good as an Agile, and the pickups may be better. Try one of their blem XV-580's with the Fat Pat pickups. <$200 and the Fat Pats are a large step above the AL-2000 ceramics.

Swamp Yankee makes a great point, I have been using the GHS pups as upgrades for a while now and to be honest, I think their pups vs costs are a no brainer. But I was playing my Xaviere XV600?, Tele shape, semi hollow with Dream 180 pups this past weekend and I really love how the thing feels. If it wasn't a little neck heavy I might start using it for gigs. As it ages it is seeming to settle and just ring out better and better. But I'm perfectly happy with my Agiles after the pup changes.

I looked at the Xaviere line but they don't make lefties that I know of. One of my workmates has a Xaviere with P-90's and it is really nice.

I feel your pain.
That's why I have so many Rondo Left Hand guitars.
They have more lefty choices than anyone.
