As I've only recently moved into amp heads (having been a combo guy for 35 years), I bought a couple of 3' 16-ga Live Wire cables from MF for $10 each. The quality is great, & I recommend 'em, but they're boring black.

I just now find that GFS has half-decent cables. Their speaker cables are only 16 ga, only 3-, 6-, 10-foot -- $6, $7, $10.

From MF, a Rapco 16 ga 6 is $10, no 3-foot, & length skips right from 6' to 20'.

While the MF house brand (Musician's Gear) has lower prices than the GFS cables, the latter have a nifty semitransparent-red PVC jacket, as well as black strain reliefs at the jacks. (The MG cables are just black neoprene without reliefs. Other shortcomings: only available in 3-, 6-, 25-, & 50-foot lengths.)

If GFS put out speaker cables in 14 gauge, or even 12, I'd be truly excited. Moreso if they would take the front & offer 2' or even 1.5' as I tend to leave the head sitting atop the cab. Yet-better if they'd offer cables with one or two right-hand plugs. And the three lengths won't get a whole lot of trade from people who need to run PA speakers.

But even as-is, I think I'll be upgrading to GFS.

(Don't even get me started on their boutique-grade or kit high-grade solderless instrument cables -- whoa, Nelly. Blink)

GFS Cables are good because of the connectors! Aussie made Amphenol plugs!

I've never tried their cables but I'm very happy with everything I have purchased from them. I have one Xaviere guitar and I use their pickups in many of my guitars. Their parts and components have served me very well.

I actually use the GC house brand (live wires?) and also have a couple First Act cables I bought from Walmart I think that have all been very good (comparable to my Whirlwind and lower end Monster). I've thought about buying some GFS cables, but after shipping they just don't seem like such a great deal. Unless of course your buying some other stuff to reduce the shipping cost per unit. They do look like quality cables. If I order something from them in the future, maybe I'll throw in a cable, can never have enough backups.

Cable-wise I'm on to George L's now -- decidedly un-frugal, but in my playing context I don't expect to buy more for a very long time.

+1 on loving GFS. I had a pair of Anico Fatbody tele pickups that were wonderful. Cool stuff coming out of that company at very reasonable prices.
