Hi fellow frugalists!

I'm looking to buy my first multi effect pedal. I would like to have the option to use my current OD with this pedal I love how it sounds with my tube amp. So this multi effect pedal would not be used for amp modeliing. I had a few questions

I know the g3 works with other pedals, but can't find if the rp500 will.

Another question is, I dont see how you can adjust effexct settings with the rp500 effects. Say I wanted to reduce the highs on a tube screamer pedal. Can that be done?

Overall, do you think one has better effects and sound?

Primarily used for bluesy rock and classic rock.

thanks for your input

I know will has cut some tunes using the Zoom G3 - I think it sounds great, personally. I've demo'd both and my ears tell me they're about even. The RP500 has more features, but didn't necessarily exceed the Zoom in terms of tone quality.

Also, don't take this as anything but information - here's website for the Digitech RP500. The owner's manual will take care of just about any question you might have. To answer your question directly, you absolutely can edit effects settings.

So all this said, I would opt for the RP500 - the built-in expression pedal for wah/volume/Whammy makes it that much more compelling.

Honestly it boils down to personal usage. I'll break it down as follows:

Do you need pitch shifting effects? RP500

Do you want to use the MFX overdrive/distortion? RP500

Do you want a smaller footprint? G3

Do you want to be able to run 2 modulation effects at once? G3

See where I'm going? Its all usage based. For a true pedal board type experience with a real amp, I would lean to the G3 especially if your using dedicated stomp boxes but you could easily create 5 patches with whatever effects you need and toggle between them. Both are fantastic units IMHO, but have their strengths and weaknesses.
