A buddy of mine has one of these. We have not yet been able to determine whether it is the original (late 60's - early 70's) or the reissue (date unknown). More info may be coming. It is either 20 or 25 watts, 2xEL84s, 4 12ax7s, 1x12" speaker, spring reverb, tremelo, 3xEQ, single volume control. Not sure if class A or A/B.

My buddy does not care for it and thinks it may need work. His taste is sometimes questionable, however. I've only played it at very low volumes and find it OK. Reverb is very weak - may need a new driver tube, or perhaps a broken wire in the tank - may have to take it apart and test it.

It doesn't *look* like much. Sealed speaker cab, cheesy handle, cheap knobs.

But I look online, and see that the reissues are selling for $1000'ish. Are these prices insane, or is this amp something worth sprucing up? If the latter, I may need to take it out to the barn and thrash it at high volume for a bit to experience the "magic"....

I have not played a YGM-3 but I have read many good reviews of them. I do however have a YCV50 Blue and our lead guitarist plays through a Traynor YCV40 WR and both of those amps are very good to great. I think some of the popularity of the older Traynor amps are due to the performance of the new Traynor amps. The new ones are very good and only Brand snobs can find negative things to say about them.
