Would you guys participate in an acoustic section of the forum? I play both acoustic and electric, but by far am more of an acoustic player. How about you guys and gals?

I don't think of myself as an acoustic guy, but here's the thing- I find that I do play an acoustic a lot more than I thought I did. It is more portable than an electric and I can easily take it to the living room, or wherever my wife happens to be and noodle around while watching TV, etc.

I also tend to write on the acoustic and then record on an electric.

So- I'm looking for a frugal acoustic-electric, $200 or less with a shallow body. I've got an Epiphone PR5e now and I've been looking at some of the Ovations. But I don't like the neck on the ones I've tried. The action is a little high & the fingerboard is a little too narrow.

Any Suggestions?

I play electric more than acoustic... but I do play my electric 'acoustically', unplugged, more than plugged in. My toddler likes to turn the knobs on the amp too much.

I need to play my acoustic more though... I have a resonator that gets all my acoustic playing right now.

I'm working on adding a pickup to it for some fun overdrive sounds.

I play both electric and acoustic, and have a different mindset depending upon which I'm playing at the time.

Yeah, an acoustic guitar section would be nice (though I confess I'm not too frugal on acoustics).

I certainly hope that I can jump-start this topic. I'm new here, and I play acoustic much more than electric. I haven't put much money into my electric rig. I have a nice ($200) Squier Standard Strat, but only a 30w x 10" amp with no effects. No pedals. I recently dropped my 'go to' guitar, an Epiphone AJ200SR ($200), and did some major cosmetic damage to the back. This model has been discontinued, so I chose the AJ220S ($200) to replace it. It is supposed to arrive Wednesday.

Does anyone else here have experience or opinions on the Epiphone AJ models?

Baldwin, I would recommend the Hofner Acoustics, they have some thinner built that don't sound thin. I was surrprised when I gave them a go.

Bird, the Epiphone acoustics seem to sound nice but I have never felt comfortable playing one with the exception of a pre-Gibson Acoustic I played once that sounded really nice and played wonderfully. I do have a brother-in-law that plays an Epi acoustic and he seems to love it.
