My GS has been wanting a Strat with a Tele neck.
So I looked at WD-Music, and they have a slew of licnesed Fender stuff.
So I have been working a couple of days on it.
Nothing is a drop in fit, so lots of routing and sanding.
See Attachments for pics so far.
The pickguard is all my creation leftover from my Pickup winding hay-day.
Parts are.
WD Honey flame top alder body.
Maple tele neck, 9.5 IR, skunk stripe, Kluson 19:1 Locking tuners.
Fender Vintage 6 screw Temolo, with steel block, and 5 springs.
Fender 4 bolt Logo Neck plate.
Installing a bone nut, from a preformed blank.
It is not finished, and just barely half-ass assembled.
But, you can get an Idea what it will look like.

THAT, looks sweet dude! Love that flamed maple front and the red burst. NICER than any run of the mill Fender! You putting in some of your custom wound pick ups in it for him? Drool

FWIW -- sorry, I just got into this on another site Shhh -- the only thing "licensed" is the headstock shape. No promises of quality or even accuracy other thanthat.

On the upside, WD has (sometimes...) a soft-V neck with ebony fretboard. What are the odds...?

All a writer really needs is a blank page and a bad attitude.

Yes I have 6 different loaded pickguards we can try on it.
All pickups, and pickguards wired up by Yours truly!
I may try another one, when I get this one done.
I have an older SX Strat, that I may upgrade with a new neck, and new steel block tremolo.
Got to get this one out the door first! Cool
BTW, Everyone that's seen it, has been impressed with the flame maple top!
A real eye catcher!

Finished it up today.
The offical name, now is Strato-Tele-Paul.
Strat Body, Tele Neck, and Flame top like a Les Paul.
My GS, came today, and brought all his other guitars, amps and pedals.
We tried different pickguards, and pickup combinations.
Ended up with a 5.85K neck, 6.2K middle, and an overwound bridge pickup, I had in a drawer.
The guitar has great quack, or spank in positions 2 & 4.
The guitar sounds entirely different with maple neck and maple body top, than the 65RI.
They both sound really good, and Ethan likes how they both have unique sounds.
He also brought the 1998 Gibson Blues Hawk, with the varitone, and it sounds different as well.
Then he played for me, as I repaired broke guitar cords.
It was a fun Afternoon, and a fun project!
He can't wait to play it at his next gig! Smile
Here's a few more pics.
