Fender Studio 85

Johnny Geenwood of Radio Head use to use one in his multy amp rig..

I bought one in 1986 and still have it, great amp. Light weight, 65 watts,12" speaker, spring reverb, Gain and mid boost button. I'll never sell it unless I was starving.
These old amps get good reviews on the net.
Fender should reissue them.

Many years back I got a call from a friend and said he got an audition to play drums for Albert King and needed a ride to Lenny's the club where he was playing. He got the gig and I got to meet Albert King. He was playing a Flying V but don't know what amp he was using at that time.

Will I'm not surprised , they are very cool for some sounds. Road worthy and reliable.
Had mine for 15 years and still haven't had to change the tubes.
I saw some old photos of Scotty Moore, right there on the stage was a Peavey Bandit.
The newer ones have maybe better distortions.
The pretranstube ones with Jfetts ( Solo Series ) may sound a tad better than Transtube circuits, but they are both good IMO.
Those Prichard amps have those Jfetts as does a Fultone pedal that gets high regard.
Bandits are frugal , used ones can be owned for a bargain price and are plentiful. Before the modler amps came along Bandit was the best selling amp in the world.

Wooten has quite a resume.

I use a Tech 21 Trademark 60. Sounds as good as any good tube amp and better than a cheap tube amp. It's quality and sound that matter, not tubes or transistors!

P.S. If you go to their website there is a list of at least 100 performers that have used or purchased their products.

If I recall Mike Stern still uses a Yamaha G100 amp.

David

It's not the guitar, it's the player.
